“Albertans of the Jewish faith will begin celebrating Sukkot this evening. During this harvest time holiday, people gather together to share food and give thanks.
“As part of their celebrations, those of Jewish faith will build small huts, or ‘sukkah,’ to recognize the time their ancestors spent living in the desert after leaving Egypt. They share their meals and pray with family and friends inside the sukkah.
“These types of celebrations add meaning and joy to the lives of those who participate in them and contribute to the diversity that makes Alberta a great place to live.
“I wish a happy holiday to everyone in Alberta who celebrates Sukkot. Chag Sukkot Sameach!”
