Provincial Hunting Day: Joint statement

“Provincial Hunting Day recognizes the importance of hunting to families and communities across the province.

“Hunting is an activity that strengthens our bonds with family and friends, creating life-enriching moments and lasting memories. It also plays an important role in helping the province meet its conservation goals.

“Alberta has seen an overall increase in hunting participation rates over the last 10 years, especially among women. This is not surprising, given that Alberta’s diverse landscape and strong biodiversity offer some of the world’s most memorable hunting experiences.

“The popularity of hunting generates hundreds of millions of dollars in economic activity annually, making it a key economic driver in small towns throughout Alberta.

“As we recognize another Provincial Hunting Day, I’d like to wish everyone a safe and successful outing on their next hunting adventure.”Jason Nixon, Minister of Alberta Environment and Parks

“Today we mark Provincial Hunting Day and acknowledge the role hunting has played in Alberta’s culture and history. We engaged hunters across the province through the work of the Alberta Firearms Advisory Committee, which heard ideas from hunters and other firearms enthusiasts covering areas such as firearms education, advocacy and community collaboration. We look forward to continuing the work of the committee as part of serving you better. My best wishes as you celebrate this year’s Provincial Hunting Day.”Kaycee Madu, Minister of Justice and Solicitor General

“As a lifelong firearms enthusiast, I have developed deep ties to the hunting community. I want to assure the hunters who will be coming to Chief Firearms Office staff for firearms licences and any other administrative needs that we are focused on protecting and promoting their interests. I look forward to connecting with more Alberta hunters and other law-abiding firearms owners as our work continues, and wish everyone a safe and fruitful hunting season.”Teri Bryant, chief firearms officer
